Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset

Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset

There are two types of mindsets we can cultivate. One that embraces problems as opportunities to learn, and one that avoids them, often out of fear to fail. People that avoid conflicts can be described as having a fixed mindset. Those who see problems as interesting challenges have a growth mindset. Sometimes we like to switch from one to the other. #learn #mindset

A growth mindset is the key to making life easier in the long run. When you believe that your abilities, skills, and intelligence can improve with effort and persistence, challenges become opportunities rather than obstacles. Instead of fearing failure, you see it as a stepping stone to growth. Over time, this mindset helps you adapt, learn faster, and overcome setbacks with resilience. While things may still be difficult in the moment, a growth mindset ensures that each challenge you face makes you stronger and more capable, ultimately leading to a smoother and more fulfilling journey through life.

  2. "Employers seek employees with a growth mindset.". "Jay thinks leaders are born, and gets the job.". WTF?????. That goes against the theme of the whole video.

I believed that we can changes from fixed mindset to growth mindset. Because people who try many time will eventually understand the strategy and the pattern of the situation they want to work with. Example, video game, math problem, and football, are skills that required practice, the more you think and learn, the more exp and expert you are on that fields. So having a fixed mindset can be a big game changer in personal and professional life.

To grow you need to accept criticism
    Face problems and solve them
    Accept confrontation and so on

I have a growth mindset. There is no way to learn new things with a fixed mindset. I like to meet new people and talk to new people. That is a good way to learn something. I am going back to school because it is time for my mind to grow some more. There is no way a person can grow if they don’t learn new things. We can say we go back and forth or have a fixed mindset, but I guess that’s only when my mind is really made up about something. I am still willing to hear or see something that I may be able to learn from. Keep the mind open by having a growth mindset so you can grow.

  15. 🎯 Key points for quick navigation:

🌱 Two Mindsets: People can have either a growth mindset, which embraces challenges, or a fixed mindset, which avoids them due to fear of failure.
🧠 Belief in Ability: A fixed mindset believes intelligence and talent are unchangeable, while a growth mindset sees abilities as developable through effort.
🎨 Love for Learning: Great leaders and artists share a passion for learning, which fuels their continuous growth and success.
🎉 Celebrating Effort: Encouraging hard work over results helps develop a growth mindset, making learning an exciting process.
🔄 Handling Challenges: People with a fixed mindset avoid challenges and fear looking foolish, while those with a growth mindset see challenges as fun and necessary for improvement.
🗣️ Receiving Feedback: A fixed mindset sees feedback as personal criticism, while a growth mindset views it as a tool for growth.
🚀 Persistence & Practice: Growth-minded individuals embrace consistent effort, knowing that improvement comes through practice and perseverance.
🏢 Mindset in the Workplace: Modern companies prefer employees with a growth mindset because they solve problems, persist through difficulties, and adapt to change.

  23. Yeah the stairs methaphor is a bit where I draw the line. You can’t say just because there is a difference in mindset someone will always take the stairs. Come on

  24. I do believe you can change from fixed to growth mindset. I also believe you can stagger between the two. In some situations you may be fixed and in some you embrace growth.

  26. @fliegendetomate4368 April 15, 2025 at 10:26 am

I believe that everything can be learned but once there comes a stop line. I think you can learn every skill if you want it enough but you can’t be the best at the skill. You can become a Great athlete at for example sprinting but you probably won‘t be faster than usain bolt

  27. I have a growth mindset, yet I do not like it when others succeed. I know they have their own circumstances, experiences, resources, and opportunities, but I view it as negative motivation. It makes me regret not going down that path, or doing this, this, and that instead.

For example, Newgrounds’ art section is over-saturated, and the games and movie sections are not. I also didn’t surround myself with like-minded people or friends like my contemporaries did; I’m introverted and keep getting in trouble. I don’t know why I sometimes feel that I should work harder. Working smart doesn’t feel like enough for me.

  28. @pammuveersha7876 April 15, 2025 at 10:27 am

conscious effort is needed to not fall into fixed mindset

  33. Uau!

  34. I am jay . Jay is me .

  35. i commend you for asking for our opinions on how we think on can change their mindset from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset,
I use daily affirmations, I’ve a copy of it in my phone and read it, when ever I feel resistance from the subconscious that is going for fixed mindset traits.

conqure your mind , here the mind in reference is the sub conscious

  39. This video was such a well-thought comparison. I went from having fixed to growth mindset. Growing made me realize there was nothing to fear other than staying in the same place all because you’re afraid to take the next step. I started viewing challenges more as trophies to learn from rather than hurdles to overcome. You become unstoppable when you start chasing challenges instead of running away from them.

  40. Why wasn’t this around when I was in school-
I grew up with shit like "You wouldn’t fail if you actually wanted to do the project"
Why couldn’t this have been have been around when I was a tiny child- TnT

  41. Many with a fixed mindset don’t even realize it; awareness is the first step to growth

  42. @muhammadchaldun9030 April 15, 2025 at 10:39 am

    Excellent concept of mindset.

  43. Personal growth has been a huge focus for me lately, but staying consistent is where I’ve always struggled. I tried to tackle it solo, reading books and setting goals, but without
someone holding me accountable, it never stuck. A while ago, I started exploring accountability as a strategy for staying on track. I first paired up with a friend, but we both
ended up being too lenient. That’s when I joined Habit10x and got matched with a dedicated accountability partner. So far, it’s been refreshing to have someone genuinely
    invested in my growth journey

  47. I would have loved to show this to my students, who are mostly Black and Brown. Sadly, in the scores of images of people, I did not see one person of color. So, I’m not sure if I will show it.

  48. @garythompson1224 April 15, 2025 at 10:50 am

Human beings are a blend of the two; not in equal parts of course. Much is dependent on situation and context.
